Week 38
Week 38
Ron and Nettie returned to Heerenveen after their long trip Netherlands, France and Belgium.
Ron called this photo of Jacoba "reflections". We've only used her twice this year - maybe a late trip in October...the boat lift is out of action, so there is no hurry to take her out for the winter
I had another try at crumpets...just because
All her own work...
Maybe the last of the mowing for this year..."they" are talking of a strong winter - but who really knows these days?. There were fewer wasps (and more mosquitos), the acorns are prolific this year, I've hardly seen a frog - all reliable folklore indicators of...something.
A few finishing touches...
Our heat pump is finally in sight (the installer remains totally unreliable, however). We have the floor heating on with the old gas heater...The new gas heater will be above left in the photo and will only kick-in when the heat pump can't handle it (too cold outside). The heat pump unit will be outside on the wall - behind the position of the red expansion vat.
We have to run the floor heating for a few weeks, gradually stepping up the temperature - to further "cure" the concrete floor.
The new brickwork is having the mortar finished off - Janny brought the boys to have a look
...and the renovated logfire is in position - ready to light - but we have had unusually good weather this last week, so it hasn't yet been needed. And the floor heating already seems to be working.
