Week 33

 Week 33

Written on my tablet as we don't yet have a place for my computer :(

I took Boeke for a walk this morning...no wind or rain - just perfect as the weather slowly begins to change. It's only Autumn coming up but that is usually winter enough to start thinking about log fires and getting the boat "winterised".

NL population reaches 18 million

in 2022 and 2023 there were more deaths than births but the increase came through immigration - mostly Ukrainian and Syrian.

A little gem from The Collingwood Barracker 1853-1906... by Robin Murphy (a nice glimpse of the history of Melbourne).

1986 The Collingwood Observer

No club had ever had such a popular win, and everywhere the Collingwood footballers had won esteem for their good, manly behaviour. It was not only a win for the club, but a win for Collingwood. The Club had also done much to uphold the credit of football; for although they went in to win they went in to play a pure and honourable game. The idea of the Collingwood Football Club winning the Premiership was at first pooh pooh'd; but it must be borne in mind that Collingwood had hitherto supplied football and cricket clubs with some of their best players...no club played the game of football truer than the Collingwood, and this opinion was endorsed everywhere (except at North Melbourne) they played even at Ballarat and Bendigo their conduct ensured respect, and congratulations for their win poured in from all the colonies. Mr Copeland, the secretary, responded, and assured the company that the team would continue to do honour to themselves and the city.

Almost back to normal after a few clients had holidays. Lucas is back and will be moving in to a different house in October. He and his brother will be there until a brand new apartment is ready after about 2 years. Of course, he had to take me around to see it before we went to "work".

I have to learn how to use the new kitchen; not so easy without reading the instructions! The steam oven should be something to look forward to...maybe a bit more time over the winter.

Slowly moving stuff out of the apartment...including our Ferntree Gully-made clock of 26 years...

New shelving under the stairway...

We should be able to get everything "out" during this coming week...but not necessarily back "in" - as there isn't enough room :(

The further adventures of Ben...

Rather unbelievably, Ben headed off to Munich for a couple of concerts - a friend works with Management and so he was able to get a great spot to see Adele and Cold Play - including back stage passes!

Just when we thought he might be coming home, he next called us from Oslo! Hard to keep up with him...

Around the farm...

Kids again this weekend - they can still swim just about all day - keeps them busy.

Janny and I were able to do just about ALL the mowing yesterday - makes a difference having two ride-on mowers! I also did some with the flail mower on the tractor.

We have moles! the traps are under the buckets...
